Buddhist Study, Mahayana Series

7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Yogachara, Mind Only, and Shentong

Buddhist Study Course on Wednesday Evenings, September 13 to November 1

The path of wisdom and compassion in Buddhism is called the Mahayana (the great Vehicle). It builds on the foundational teachings of the Buddha by focusing on the Profound Views and Vast Conduct of the Bodhisattvas.

The next course in our series on the Mahayana are the teachings on Yogachara and Vast Conduct.

Yogachara and these related ideas focus on the “Three Natures” and how the natures explain our entrapment in samsara.  With this insight, and our meditation and proper conduct, we start to develop the “roots of virtue” which are crucial in understanding and reconnecting with our Buddha Nature.

The “Vast Conduct” teachings focus on the experience of working with mind through meditation and virtuous conduct. This is about “Path” and skillful means! About actualizing!

There will be 7 classes which will include two practicums of guided meditation practice.
